La Soeur Fund

Trusting women. Resourcing change. Ending violence.

La Sœur Fund moves fast, flexible funding to grassroots women’s organizations responding to violence against women and girls in humanitarian emergencies—where support is most urgent and least accessible.

The crisis we cannot look away from.

Violence against women and girls (VAWG) is the most pervasive human rights violation in the world. Even in stable times, one in three women will experience physical or sexual violence. During conflict or disaster, rates rise to 70 percent.

In 2025, global aid cuts forced 90% of women-led organizations in crisis contexts to suspend or reduce services; half have already shut down programs that survivors rely on for safety and care. The consequences are immediate and devastating: safe shelters close, hotlines fall silent, and survivors are left without help. Behind every percentage point is a woman or girl whose life could have been saved or violence prevented.

The first responders – invisible yet irreplaceable

Across conflict lines, displacement routes, and disaster zones, grassroots women-led organizations are the first and often the only responders to violence against women and girls. They provide shelter, psychological support, trafficking prevention, legal assistance, and lifesaving frontline care. They are trusted. They are effective. Yet they receive less than 1% of funding in emergencies.

Our Mission

Our mission is simple: to resource women’s rights organizations responding to violence in the world’s most fragile and under-resourced contexts, including the United States.

Our Vision

The vision of La Soeur Fund, is a world where every woman and girl lives free from violence where first responders to crisis are trusted, funded, and are no longer an afterthought or completely forgotten. We envision a future rooted in justice, care, and the leadership of those closest to the crisis.
